I use PlayMemories Home to import images from the A57 into sub-folders by date taken. That is, the program creates a folder called 5-06-2012 and dumps the images taken on 5th June into it, etc. I'm happy with it working that way, and it works just fine for my needs.

Then I came across this solution that was both simple & dare I say it elegant. In windows 10 change the short date format from whatever you have it set to yyyy-mm-dd and hit save or apply. Thats it, it works. I use PMH to transfer from handycam HDR-XR500VE to PlayMemories Home, but my you will then be able to rename and organise a number of files at the same time, to sort you're videos/images into folders named after the date of recording. Perhaps I will change the date format only when I download new files from
